What do I have to do to participate?
You will need to fill out an initial enrollment survey (which takes less than 10 minutes) to determine if your child qualifies, and sign an informed consent. Community health professionals (doctors, physician assistants, nurses, etc.) have enrollment forms and will answer any questions you may have. They will complete one page of the enrollment form to confirm eligibility and send the completed form directly to PEER (Pediatric Eczema Elective Registry). Your child does not need a doctor's examination or lab tests to participate in this observational registry.
What do we have to do while we are enrolled in the PEER program?
You only have to fill out surveys. After receiving the enrollment survey, PEER will send you a brief survey twice a year over a 10-year observation period. PEER will notify you when it is time to complete the next scheduled survey. Surveys should be completed even if your child’s eczema goes into remission. You will receive $25.00 approximately 4 weeks after each completed survey is received throughout the entire observational period (total $500). This will be the largest and longest running registry of it’s kind following children with eczema during their growing years.
Will my child have to take any medications?
No. Your child may use any medications prescribed by your doctor during the observation period which may or may not include Elidel®. This is an observational registry and medical management of your child’s general health and eczema remains with your child’s physician.
Will my child have to make any office visits?
No. You only have to complete surveys. Surveys can be completed from home by US mail, computer, phone, or fax. There is no cost to you or your doctor for your child to participate in the registry. Information will be kept confidential and used only for the purposes of the registry
