Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an irreversible, progressive and fatal brain disease. It destroys brain cells- resulting in the deterioration of memory and thinking skills. The disease is not only crippling to the individual afflicted, but affects the entire family. Some important things to know about Alzheimers disease are:

* One in eight people over the age of 65 will be diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease
* Approximately 5.3 million Americans are already living with the disease
* Alzheimer’s disease is the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S.
