Cryopyrin-Associated Periodic Syndromes (CAPS)
Cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS) are autosomal-dominant autoinflammatory disorders, including chronic infantile neurological cutaneous articular (CINCA) syndrome, also known as neonatal-onset multisystem inflammatory disease (NOMID), Muckle–Wells syndrome (MWS) and familial cold autoinflammatory syndrome (FCAS). CINCA syndrome is a severe chronic inflammatory disease, characterized by the neonatal onset of cutaneous symptoms, chronic meningitis and joint manifestations, with recurrent fever and inflammation, while MWS is characterized by the classical triad of deafness, rashes, swollen and painful joints, and FCAS manifests as skin lesions after exposure to cold.
